Downtown Spotlight: Huckleberry’s Ice Cream Parlor

When Dianna and Jesse Bennett opened Huckleberry’s, they wanted to capture a bit of Mark Twain’s Americana and the river-town soul of Edenton. With some classic, whimsical decor and their warm, friendly staff, they’ve created a place where families can make memories together.

If it’s been a little while since your last visit, you’re in for a treat. Alongside the Blue Bell ice cream, waffle cones, floats, and shakes that have made Huckleberry’s a favorite stop, they’ve introduced a full lineup of fresh, made-to-order sandwiches. Favorites like the Picket Fence, a classic club, and the Tom Sawyer, piled with roasted turkey, Granny Smith apple, spinach, and Havarti on sourdough, have quickly become customer favorites. And each sandwich can be toasted or pressed to perfection on the panini grill. Our favorite is the Jim, a toasted BBQ chicken sandwich!

And if you’re looking for something a little more indulgent? Try one of their hand-spun milkshakes or the “dueling cookies,” two soft chocolate chip cookies with a giant scoop of your favorite ice cream flavor sandwiched in between. It’s perfectly melty and refreshing on these hot summer days.

Huckleberry’s frozen treats and sandwich menu perfectly complement the Kraken’s selection of coffee drinks and baked goods. As the owners of both businesses, Dianna and Jesse have poured their hearts into making this corner of Broad Street feel welcoming for everyone. Their goal is to offer quick, affordable food and treats that families, downtown employees, and visitors can all enjoy. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch, stopping in after school, or savoring a scoop after dinner, the Bennetts have made sure Huckleberry’s is a place where everyone can find something they’ll love.

Huckleberry’s Ice Cream Parlor is located at 211 S. Broad Street, and is open 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM daily.
