Facade Improvement Program
Main Street Edenton offers a matching grant for façade improvements in the downtown commercial district. The program is an incentives-based initiative to encourage the renovation of building facades and preserve the unique architectural character of our historic downtown commercial district.
Examples of eligible projects include sign replacement, door, and roof repair, removal of false fronts, canvas awning installation, historic reconstructions, and structural repair. For more information review the below documents and contact us.

Destination Downtown Facade Improvement Application
In addition to the Facade improvement grant, the North Carolina Main Street program has a partnership with the UNCG Interior Architecture Department and its Center for Community-Engaged Design to provide design assistance to designated Main Street communities across the state, including Edenton.
Undergraduate and graduate students are selected to become Main Street Fellows. The Main Street Fellows work with UNCG Interior Architecture Department Professors to complete facade rehabilitation designs and upper-story apartment conversions.
